Academic Qualification
Pass in 10+2 (HSC) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognised board.
Minimum Marks
45% aggregate in PCM for General category. Relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/SCA candidates as per government norms.
TNEA Registration
Admission is through TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) conducted by Anna University. SECT TNEA Code: 2617.
Lateral Entry
Diploma holders with 60%+ marks are eligible for direct admission to the 2nd year (Lateral Entry) under TANCET.
Beyond Your Degree

Minor Degree & Honours Courses

Students who wish to pursue specialised interests beyond their core engineering discipline can opt for additional courses — either as an Honours Degree within their own department or as a Minor Degree from another department.

Honours Degree
Students can pursue additional specialisation credits (18–20 credits, including SWAYAM credits) within their own parent department. The specialisation is mentioned in the degree certificate.
Example: A B.E. Mechanical Engineering student who earns extra credits in Robotics will receive: B.E. (Hons.) Mechanical Engineering with Specialisation in Robotics
Minor Degree
Students can earn a Minor Degree in an emerging or multidisciplinary area offered by another department by completing 18–20 additional credits. The Minor is reflected in the final degree.
Example: A B.E. CSE student who completes Robotics credits from Mechanical Engineering will receive: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering with Minor Degree in Robotics
Eligibility for Minor / Honours Registration
  • Registration at the beginning of 3rd or 5th Semester
  • Must have acquired 7.5 CGPA up to the end of 2nd Semester (for 3rd Sem registration) or 4th Semester (for 5th Sem registration)
  • Lateral entry Diploma students with 60% or above in their Diploma are also eligible
  • A minimum of 18–20 additional credits must be earned beyond the regular curriculum to receive the Minor / Honours degree

Admission to SECT's UG programmes is through the TNEA process conducted by Anna University. Here's how you can secure your seat.

Register on TNEA
Visit the official TNEA portal and complete your registration. Keep your mark sheets, certificates, and ID proof ready.
Enter College Choice
Add SECT (College Code: 2617) to your preference list. You can add multiple programmes and prioritise them.
Await Allotment
Anna University will publish allotment results based on merit rank and your preference list. Check TNEA portal regularly.
Report to SECT
Report to SECT with original documents for admission formalities. Our team will guide you through the joining process.

₹10,000 – ₹40,000 per annum (Tuition Fee Waiver)
Awarded to first year students of BE/BTech/ME/MBA based on cut-off marks, TANCET or MAT scores at the time of admission.

Merit cum Means Scholarship
₹5,000 – ₹10,000 per annum
For students from economically weaker families. Combines academic merit with financial need for all students of BE/BTech/ME/MBA.
Parent annual income not exceeding ₹1,00,000
No arrears, 95% overall attendance
8 hrs/month service contribution required
Sports Scholarship
₹10,000 – ₹40,000 per annum
Recognises outstanding sports achievements at zonal, inter-zonal, state, national and international levels for all BE/BTech/ME/MBA students.

What is the eligibility criteria for UG admission?
For UG (B.E. / B.Tech.) programmes, candidates must have passed 10+2 / HSC with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. SC/ST candidates may be eligible with a relaxed cut-off as per government norms.
Is management quota admission available?
Yes, management quota seats are available for eligible candidates. Please contact the admissions office directly for management quota eligibility, fee structure and available seats for the current academic year.
How can I apply for a scholarship?
Trust scholarships are awarded during the admission process based on merit, financial need and sports performance. Government scholarships like BC/MBC, SC/ST, and Central Sector schemes are applied through the college. Bring your income and community certificates at the time of admission for scholarship consideration.
What is the fee structure for UG programmes?
